The humble beginnings of Salvation Army from Tamil Nadu’s Putheri

The international charitable organisation runs many hospitals worldwide. Its first hospital was established at Putheri. In 1893, Major William Stevens set up a dispensary at the modest bathroom on the veranda for Captain Henry John Andrews to treat the poor. Captain Andrews laid the foundation for Salvation Army Catherine Booth Hospital
